Our open studio fosters the kind of intentional as well as incidental collaboration that adds richness to each and every project. Sometimes the best ideas emerge from casual discussions around our shared work table. It’s the perfect workspace to have clients pull up a chair and help us hash out a design solution.

As a designer I take pride in the creation of unique and comfortable spaces, but it isn’t until a client has used and lived in a space that it reaches its lasting character. “We Shape our buildings; thereafter they shape us.” – Winston Churchill

Sean Farrell received both his BS and Master of Architecture from Northeastern University.  A semester abroad in intensified Sean’s  interest in urban architecture which he then developed further through his thesis project on Hybrid High-Rise buildings in Historic Cities.  While in school, he also worked at two highly regarded Boston architecture firms, focusing on institutional and residential buildings.  When not in the office Sean can be seen riding his bike around the city, on the golf course or snowboarding in the mountains.

Architecture is a complex, interdisciplinary field in which we are constantly navigating through issues of form, materiality, structure, budget, etc. But sometimes, it can just be simplified into matters of beauty. “Life deprived of beauty is not worthy of being called human.” – Luis Barragan

Stacy received her BS in Architecture from the Georgia Institute of Technology and her Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania, where she also earned a Certificate in Ecological Architecture. During her undergraduate studies, Stacy studied abroad for a year in Paris at ENSA Paris La Villete. Between her undergraduate and graduate degrees, Stacy worked for the renowned Paris luxury design firm Carbondale. While at UPenn, Stacy spent a semester abroad at the Architectural Association in London and interned at Ateliers Jean Nouvel in Paris. Upon graduating with her Masters, she moved to New York City and worked at Asymptote Architecture, and then spent a brief period working for Snow Kreilich Architects in Minneapolis. Stacy joined our studio in 2015, and is accredited as a LEED Green Associate by the US Green Building Council.

Eileen Grey once stated, “To create, one must first question everything”. As a designer, I seek to ask the right questions to lead to the most appropriate outcome for a client’s current and future needs.

Kristen received her undergraduate degree in architecture from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where her research led her to study abroad in the UK, South America, Scandinavia and Europe.  Leaving her Midwestern roots behind, she attended the Rhode Island School of Design’s Masters in Interior Architecture accelerated program where her focus revolved around ideas of adaptive reuse and sustainability in existing buildings and the surrounding urban fabric. After completing her degree in 2013, she gained experience in high-end residential architecture and interiors firms in both Martha’s Vineyard and Boston.  Kristen is also an accredited LEED Green Associate and is continuing her studies to become a U.S. Green Building Council LEED Accredited Professional.  In addition to her role at Ruhl Walker Architects, Kristen is an instructor of Foundation Studies at Boston Architectural College.

“Design is an orchestration—of ideas, people, and things. I am constantly working with these components to achieve the best possible design”.

Jide received his BA from Hampshire College where he self-designed a unique multidisciplinary major in urban design, architecture, and painting. Infusing these studies helped him explore architecture with a different perspective. His thesis looked at the fast-growing city of Lagos, Nigeria, through the lens of transportation and commerce. Prior to joining the studio, he gained 3 years of experience at a Boston firm working on small scale residential, commercial, and institutional projects across the state.

Prior to beginning his studies in architecture, Paul received his BS in business administration from the University of New Hampshire and worked as a marketing and business development manager for an executive education network and at Gensler, both in Washington DC. There is no instruction manual to get to the final design from the initial conversations with a client. You work with exhaustive precision yet maintain flexibility. You surprise and get surprised. You seek out and intensify a set of unique existing strengths of a new project, combine that with your client’s desires, build from that nucleus and soon enough the design starts to come together in an unexpected and exciting way!

Nerijus grew up in Lithuania, where he studied sculpture and painting. He has a BA in business administration from Worcester State College, a Masters of Architecture degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and is accredited as a LEED Green Associate by the US Green Building Council. Prior to joining Ruhl Walker Architects in 2010, Nerijus worked for over 3 years at Machado + Silvetti, Office DA, and Howeler + Yoon on award winning residential and commercial projects, installations, exhibitions and master plans. In addition, Nerijus has several years of experience working as a carpenter on houses on Nantucket. He is highly skilled with 3D modeling, animation and other computer design tools.
